This year’s event features 160 exhibitors from around the globe.儲存 Reports by Tama LungFrom ceramics and chemicals to furniture and bathroom fixtures, the eighth edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair is the place to find supplies and equipment for every possible construction and renovation job.Around 160 exhibitors from around the world will showcase their latest products and innovations today until Wednesday at AsiaWorld-Expo. Highlights of this year’s fair – organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council – include the Green Building Materials Zone with a wide range of environmentally friendly materials and finishings, and Kitchen and Bath with the latest trends in consumer and corporate products. Other specialist zones include the World of Building and Decorative Hardware, Ceramics, Stone and Marble, and Indoor Decorative Materials.Other categories cover building technology, ceiling and curtain walls, coating and chemicals, doors and windows, furniture, property and facility management, and testing, inspection and certification.Wurth, a Germany producer of fasteners, tools, chemicals and work safety equipment, is joining the fair for the first time. “Our purpose is to reach out for more potential customers and promote our brand,” says Annie Ng, deputy managing director.The company will be presenting its patented products, including its Powerdriv ring spanner, ASSY screw that can be used outdoors for wooden decks and houses, and work safety products.Also specialising in fastening products, J.A.M. International was founded in 1999 and is a sister company of Po Wah Metal. “Both have more than 30 years of solid experience in fastening and fixing products,” says general manager Christine Pang. “J.A.M. developed and owns the certificate of registration of design for JAM-S/JAM-SH Sle迷你倉ve Anchor, JAM-W Wedge Anchor and JAM-J Expansion Plug.”This year, the company will be promoting its Grade 8.8 Threaded Rods, JAM-D Drop in Anchors, Grade 10.9 (HSFG) High Strength Friction Grip Pre-loaded bolts, U Channels and Self-Drilling Screws.Malaysian building materials will also be represented at the fair, as part of a delegation organised by the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).“MATRADE functions as the focal point for foreign importers to source Malaysian products and services by connecting them to Malaysian suppliers,” says Zaimah Osman, trade commissioner for MATRADE Hong Kong. “Driven by the vision of positioning Malaysia as a global competitive trading nation, MATRADE also assists Malaysian companies to establish their presence overseas through various promotional programmes, such as missions, international trade fairs and capacity development initiatives.”The seven Malaysian companies participating in the fair are flooring supplier ME Industries, flexible panel and office furniture maker RP Parking and Lighting, timber engineering firm Fine Quality Timber, lighting companyLED House, waterproofing specialist Chemind Industries, furniture maker S. Kian Seng and prefab building creatorO-Stable Panel.The fair also features a range of special activities for visitors. A symposium on “Build Smart, Build Green, Build Quality” will feature industry experts, including Tony Ip, deputy director of sustainable design for Ronald Lu & Partners, while representatives from Goodwell Property Management and Kai Shing Management Services will discuss “New Horizons in Property and Facility Management”.Other seminars will focus on certification of high-performance buildings for green environment and interior design for the future.
