Source: Albuquerque Journal, N.迷你倉最平M.Nov. 14--Intel Corp. in Rio Rancho this week began notifying employees who will be affected by layoffs that the company announced in September.Intel had said previously it would "redeploy" up to 400 of the 3,300 people employed at the Rio Rancho site as part of a companywide restructuring effort to stay competitive in the rapidly changing market for computers and smart mobile devices. The chipmaker waited a little more than two months before informing individual employees about who would be laid off to first allow workers to voluntarily seek positions at other Intel locations, opt for retirement if they qualified, or accept an "attractive" separation package."In September, we said we would conduct a 'phased' process for redeployment," Intel spokeswoman Natasha Martell Jackson said Wednesday. "Now we're beginning the next phase by communicating directly with affected employees."Martell Ja迷你倉kson did not know how many people opted for voluntary withdrawal or transfer since September. But she said the total number of people targeted for redeployment will not surpass the 400 announced in September. Those affected by redeployment are eligible to continue receiving a salary for two months while they look for jobs either inside or outside the company with Intel assistance, Martell Jackson said. After that, their employment at Intel is terminated."Redeployment refers to a unique Intel program that offers support for employees while they look for another job, usually for a period of about two months," she said. "During that time, they receive full benefits and other support, such as help in developing skills needed for other jobs."Copyright: ___ (c)2013 the Albuquerque Journal (Albuquerque, N.M.)
